stay Number Sixteen is a boutique hotel and one of the most luxurious B&B’s in London. Its location is on a quiet side street in the heart of South Kensington behind a row of stucco-fronted nineteenth-century Victorian townhouses. It is noted for its comfort and quiet charm, so leave your party at the door when you come back after a night on the town. Social civilities take place in the hotel’s library and drawing room where itinerant travellers gather to regale each other around the fireplace or honesty bar. Interiors are a mix of antiques with modern artworks and soft contemporary colours. Rooms here vary in size from rather small to surprisingly large though all are luxuriously outfitted with big comfortable beds and top-quality linens. There’s no restaurant, though room service is available twenty-four hours a day which you can take either in your room, the conservatory or, weather permitting, in the hotel’s large walled garden.
